Obituary of Joseph Henry Redwood, Kate Butler's husband.

CHRISTCHURCH, this day.
The death occurred at Nelson on Sunday of Mr. Joseph Henry Redwood (eldest son of the late Mr. Henry Redwood, "Father of the New Zealand Turf"). In the early days Joseph redwood was a well known horseman. He rode Lady Bird, winner of the first champion race in New Zealand, run at Dunedin, the stake being a thousand pounds. A gold-mounted whip, then presented to the rider, was retained in Redwood's possession till his death.Latterly Joseph Redwood had been farming at Spring Creek, Marlborough, where he had a prominent part in all local affairs, including membership of the Education Board and the Land Purchase Board."
